How does it work for us?

Inside our insulator you'll find two main components:

• USB 2.0 digital isolator circuit: ADUM316 5 - not to be confused with the 316 0 series, which only supports Full Speed 12 Mbps - not enough for audio devices!
• isolated switching converter that increases the voltage with filters and a linear stabilizer at the output.

Therefore, our solution can be called comprehensive - we do not only divide the ground, but each signal of the USB cable (VBUS, D+, D-, GND).

Be careful, other USB isolators or similar solutions may:

• support max. USB Full Speed, which is not enough to connect e.g. 24 bit / 192 kHz DAC or other fast devices - ours supports High Speed ,
• do not stabilize power outputs, so their voltage varies from 5.5 V to 4.7 V depending on the load,
• do not actively limit output current, which may temporarily or permanently exceed the permissible values of the USB 3.0 port (900 mA),
• do not isolate USB transmission or power supply - with us, each USB line is actively isolated, which some ground loop isolators do not,
• not to be tested for high voltage (Hi-Pot test) or short circuits - and we do it for every piece!

Do you design or test electronics?

The USB isolator is a solution familiar to hobbyists and electronics professionals when building new devices. as the only ones we implement overcurrent protection in a way typical for laboratory power supplies: by active output voltage limitation (CC mode - constant current) to prevent overload even for a moment.

isoUSB+ provides significant efficiency to its isolated output and limits it to 600mA, which helps keep the input current below the capacity of USB 3.0 ports (900mA). Therefore, please note that The isolator should be connected to the Super Speed (SS) port , usually color-coded blue !

We also haven't forgotten about safety and electromagnetic compatibility . The circuit contains a total of 7 elements such as: ESD and TVS diodes, common-mode filter and PI passive filters, as well as a circuit limiting the output current in the event of an overload.

It will protect your device

We checked it at your request by connecting the device USB Killer V3 to the secondary side (DEVICE). The primary side (HOST) has not suffered any damage!

Isolation barrier at level 3750 V will protect your computer in the event of a power surge, overvoltage, or short circuit. No wonder USB Killer didn't make it - its 300V is only 10% strength of our insulator.
